Back when Rick set FairfieldLife up as a Yahoo forum in his infinite wisdom even before he became one of Fairfield, Iowa’s Buddhas at the gas pumps he consciously enabled the group settings in such a way as to provide a safety to anonymous membership that could facilitate meditators to join FFL anonymously and more safely give voice to their observations. Back in those days [y-2001] there were no safe forums open to considerations of meditators without consequence. Some people took the protection allowed for in Rick's settings and used it as cover to their considerations in ‘speaking truth to power’ as have others bravely authored and sign directly using their own names publicly. . This is still the case. Given the group settings in conjunction with the Yahoo-Groups guidelines this aspect of privacy is also protected. . FairfieldLife as a Yahoo- group as such has all along been an important progressing ingredient in the community of meditating Fairfield, Iowa and larger TM community. In reading FFL I feel some concern around private e-mails being forwarded over to FFL without the trimming off of personal e-mail addresses of non-FFL members from the originating e-mail. The potential for what could be seen as an invasion of privacy seems high with that. In looking I would suspect that some lot of people that are originally CC’ed while they are amongst friends or family otherwise could proly not appreciate having their personal contact info shared out on a public forum..
