thx for publishing this.  Somebody born in 1926, I can feature that; but not 
people born in the late 40's or beyond.
   Now I'm thinking mineral deficiencies, particularly Magnesium, Sulfur, and 
Selenium.  The latter two are crucial for Glutathione production.  Glutathione 
(the body's master detoxifier) levels plunge in aging adults; but a specific 
cause for even more soil depletion of these critical minerals could be the use 
of chemical fertilizers.
