Libby, Christianity, like any other *religion* is man made. The religion
doesn't save you, it just keeps you focused on the goal.
A relationship with Jesus is what you seek. Giving your life to Christ is your
initiation.At that point, He guides your life and may very well have lead you
to TM for His reasons. Perhaps to reveal Himself or even to bring healing to
your life.
Maharishi gave a lecture once called The Seven States of Consciousness. In it,
he speaks of a state he calls God Consciousness.In God Consciousness, your
personal God reveals Himself to you as a reward for your devotion. HE/She
actually manifests before you and may answer any burning questions you may
have..At that point the devotee can become confused, confused as to whom to bow
down to first, my God or my guru who revealed Him to me. It's a sweet
predicament.Christian ministers have a specific mission, to reveal the Gospel
and convince you to give your life to Christ.They don't know all of the
details. They only know what Christ allows them to know. They speak the truth
but with limits as to it's understanding
Once you have committed your life to Christ, He does the rest, which organizes
your life for rapid progress to know Him.BTW, you only have one life, which is
eternal and never ending. The body is not so lucky. You get those as needed.

TM does not require you to give up your present religious belief. You can
practice the technique and deepen your faith as a Christian. You can use the
technique to eliminate your anxieties or phobias. You can automatically detach
your fears aside to become the true person that you are. Please, read MMY's
book, "Science of Being and Art of Living".

Hi! I have been lurking for some time, except when I said "I love David
Lynch". However, I am a Christian (and even worse a Catholic convert) and
have had my first meeting with my local TM teacher. I begin my first class on
October 23. I have suffered from anxiety, panic etc disorder (at times
morphing into agrophobia) since I was 18, I'm now 64. I love the life I have
in Christ and I believe it defines who I am. However, I have never found much
help with anxiety issue in my faith. So, after listening to some of Dr. Norman
Rosenthal books, I can see TM could be a help with this as well as other stress
issues. So, I think I am looking for someone in this group that might reassure
me that practicing TM is not "against" my faith in Jesus, i.e., a christian who
