Actually, Hagelin himself remarked that it's conceivable that the votes for him could have made the difference for Gore. I heard him say it, although I forget the venue and context. Hagelin's strategy was to try getting votes from people who wouldn't bother otherwise, hence Bobby Roth's book, _A Reason to Vote_. Still, you gotta wonder.
