I'd say that some places actually *do* have more
"power" than others. However, it kinda takes a 
seer to see the power. So the vast majority of
people who feel protective and proprietary about
such places are -- again -- just doing what they
were told by their predecessors. They're just
following a tradition they don't really under-
stand or, truth be told, really believe in.
