Last summer I looked back on how my life had unfolded, and I was thankful that for all the emotional pain I endured, the choices I made were the only reason I was happy, healthy, and still alive. Later on, the thought occurred to me that this was merely a value judgment and that it could have been just as perfect had I died. That's when I ditched all the mental masturbation about "free will". Things happen exactly as they should. Why? Because that's the way they happened.
