There was a guy on Johnny Carson many, many years
ago who had a similar talent. If you grew up East
of the Mississippi, he could give you a list of
50 words to pronounce and then tell you where you
were from, within a distance of 100 miles or so.
Even at the time (and this was decades ago) he
said that it didn't work for people from the
West because they moved around too much. I would
suspect that these days he wouldn't be able to
do it with East coasters, either.
