I remember a small group of friends gathered to hear it when it was first released, "Are You Experienced". It was a mind blowing alblum for the time. Nothing like that had ever been heard. We were dumb struck. It reminds me of a story Paul Faurso told once. When he was in the Loading Zone --quite a good band -- they used to play the early Fillmore and Avalon Ballrooms in SF. In 66 or so, one afternoon they were setting up their equipment and doing sound checks. A dude with a huge afro, no one had ever seen him around before, sauntered up and said to one of the band members, "Hey man, can I borrow your guitar". He started to play, and ripped the roof off. Everyone stood awestruck with their mouths hanging open. No one had ever heard anyone play that "out there" and so well. It was Hendrix, on his first first visit to SF, to check out the scene, before he had his band or any record contracts. ------------------------ Yahoo!
