I was miserable only for a a few months towards the end. That's the point at which I had figured out that it *was* a cult, and had tried to do a few things to fight what was going on -- the purges of people deemed "off the program," the blatantly illegal stuff like smuggling money, etc.. When it became obvious that nothing I said was ever going to have any effect, I split. But it still does amaze me, 24 years later, to run into people who still believe in TM Santa Claus.
