The instruction has been; when there is discomfort anywhere in the body, to ease off the mantra, and allow your attention to be drawn to the area of the body, which is giving you discomfort. Allow your attention to just remain in that area, which will help to heal, whatever is going on there, or being released. When it is comfortable to come back to the mantra, then easily come back to the mantra. Group practice of mediation and the sidhis is much more powerful, and perhaps some people cannot handle it comfortably? Perhaps, could be some form of demonic possession? Although Maharishi hasn't spoke much about such things, there are instances where certain lower energies can have all kinds of influences and effects, individually and in groups: For example: what is going on in the North Carolina rape case; what happened in Mai Lai, Viet Nam, are examples of mass possession of lower energies; demonic energies..
