of how paying attention to the word order is
rather important in translating Vedic:
catvâri vâk parimitâ padâni tâni vidur brâhmaNâ ye manîSiNaH |
guhâ trîNi nihitâ nengayanti* turîyaM vâco manuSyâ vadanti ||
Guessing an "easier" word order:
(catvaari padaani)(parimitaa vaak)....
Ralph Griffith's translation:
45 Speech hath been measured out in four divisions, the Brahmans who
have understanding know them.
Three kept in close concealment cause no motion; of speech, men speak
only the fourth division.
*) na (not) + ingayanti (cause motion) <wink wink!>
