For me, TM has been the most effective tool, for not only
transcending thought, but also, becoming familiar, with the process
of going from gross thinking to subtle thinking; and this is the
basis of Sanyama, as describe by both Maharishi Pantajali, and
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Sanyama enlivens and developes the 'super-normal' abilities mentioned
in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Pranayama comes in many different forms. Maharishi teaches one form.
There is a form called 'Connected Breathing' or Re-birthing, that was
popular in the seventies and eighties.

There is the technique which Ravi Sankar teaches, from my knowledge,
is taken from his own observation of the breath of his Teacher,
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi; it's how an enlightened man breaths; very
subtle breath; so, that is his contribution, I would suggest.

There is a technique, which I learned called Babaji's Cobra Breath,
or Babaji's Kriya Kundalini Pranayam;
Which is a very powerful technique which intensifies the Kundalini,
and the yoga of Tantra.

But for me, Maharishi's teaching is the most comprehensive of all of
them...pranayam you can learn from anyone.
Maharishi, has translated and explained and given experience of all
of the ancient literature of the Vedas, enlivened the value of
enlightenment in the world, and has made an impact on the world which
will be felt for a very long time..
