Dunno about "almost certainly," but it's *plausible*.

The effectiveness of the ploy, however, would depend
on how many people who would be considering going to
the course in Fairfield read Mother Earth News online,
which may not be a whole lot.

I think it's probably more likely that there's no
connection with the course at all.
