I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you in
charge of 'product placement' for Hindu dieties
in Hollywood films or something?  :-)

I haven't seen it, but I hear that "The Lady in 
the Water" was originally made up by Shyamalan
as a story for his kids. He probably drew on
whatever images popped into his mind, from
among the many he'd encountered in his life.
My "take" on him is that he's always been (as
a filmmaker) far more interested in *imagery*
than in symbolism. In other words, the often
fantastic images and characters in his films
don't really symbolize anything; they're there
because they are wonderful images that he likes
the look of. Like Dylan.
