That's the way I feel and how I always refer to him in writing, primarily (for moi anyway) I'm simply too lazy to type out Maharishi each and every time, MMY is so much easier. In conversation I always use Maharishi--it's the name that always comes to mind in connection with him, it feels right, and I don't really care much how he got it.
