I've been a movie addict all my life. Much of my
youth was spent on Air Force bases, where there
were several theaters on the base, the movies
changed every night at each of them, and they
cost a quarter. I got the movie bug early, and
have never really lost it. Being able to watch
them on a nice big screen in my living room does
make them more accessible, though.

Movies are almost inherently spiritual. I mean,
ponder the concept -- there is really no move-
ment at all. It's just a series of static images
flashed on the screen in quick succession. But
we perceive the changes between one frozen moment
and the next as continuous, and part of a linear
sequence. Sounds a lot like time, doesn't it? :-)

Sounds great. Yes, my player upscales. At this point,
in a small village in the sticks, that's about the
closest I get to HD. There's only one channel avail-
able on my satellite provider, and that's the National
Geographic channel. And that requires an upgrade to
my tuner, so I'm gonna wait.
