The last sentence of Bhojadeva's comment on the last suutra of saadhana-paada of Yoga-suutra seems to sum up the theme of the second book of YS:
tadayaM yogo yamaniyamaadibhiH praaptabiijabhaava aasanapraaNaayaamairan.kuritaH pratyaahaareNa puSpito dhyaanadhaaraNaasamaadhibhiH phaliSyati(iti vyaakhyaataH saadhanapaadaH) A desperate attempt at "extremely" free transalation: This is the yoga (tat; ayam; yogaH), whose seed is (praapta-biija- bhaavaH) yama and niyama, etc, (yama-niyama+aadibhiH) (yoga) that sprouts (an.kuritaH) with aasana and praaNaayaama (aasana- praaNaayaamaiH), blooms(blossoms?; puSpitaH) with pratyaahaara (pratyaahaareNa) and bears fruit (phaliSyati) with dhyaana, dhaaraNaa and samaadhi (dhyaana-dhaaraNaa-samaadhibhiH; perhaps the "wrong" order is a major typo...).
