       You are right on the point Sir Dixon.  Mechanised agriculture is possible only on a large scale.         But the real problem was caused by the Indian government and the indian Parliament.         Some 50 years back, They passed a Law called, "Rural Land Ceiling Act."         The Act prevents people from owning more than 50 acres of land.!!  Over the past 50 years valuable agriculture land has been broken up and fragmented
