It was the book that made waves, not the movie. Repercussions from the book went on for nearly a year here, it was great. Thinking muscles were being used for seemingly the first time in some cases and some soreness from overexertion. Some resentment and shock at not being able to resist thinking. Some wonderment over what thinking feels like. I could easily live in France! I toured the country and cried when I left. My basic French was eventually good enough that a native complimented me on my English--I guess he thought I was practicing.
