The whole counter culture owes a big debt to "Mad". I forget what else David Berg wrote in Mad, it has been a while. I remember discussing with him the age that kids turn off on the magazine. I think its formulaic humor just stops working at a certain age. The magazine was trying to figure out how to raise the age. To view adults as hypocritical just hits the spot for a ten year old.
