The next courses after Fuggi were the Summer of 1972
SCI courses. One was again in Humbolt and the other
was at Queens College in Kingston, Ontario. That was
the one I was on. We did two rounds in the morning and
two rounds in the afternoon. I remember all the old
timers (back then that was someone who had been
meditating more than 3 to 5 years!!) were groaning
from thae lack of "real" rounding. The next TTC was
that Fall in LaAntilla, Spain and we very slowly
started rounding until we were "only" doing 4 rounds
in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. When MMY came
in early December near the end of the course he said
he was very pleased with how we all looked. There were
no "Fuggi Freakouts". The only time we got to meditate
as much as possible was the first week of 1973 in
LaAntilla when MMY went into silence. The people who
were staying on for more courses had very nice
meetings with him. I remember one of them he was
reclining on his couch in a very casual manner. He
told us to, "...be easy with the mantra for the week."
And when asked if we should do pranayama or asanas he
said,"No,no,no..." and dismissed it with his hand. So
we all were meditating, not rounding, about 18 hours a
day (man what an experience that was!!) and after the
week was up, MMY came out of silence and we had a
meeting the next day. Someone asked MMY how we should
taper off the long meditations and he appeared
shocked and asked us who had told us to meditate that
way. We all said that he had and he just shook his
head and claimed that he had never said such a thing!
I remember laughing because it was very clear who had
told us to meditate like that. MMY up to his old
tricks!
