As far as I know, all modern cursive systems for Romance languages descend from Copperplate, aka Roundhand. The evolution of American Cursive is quite direct: Roundhand/Copperplate->Spencarian->Cursive, but I'd be greatly surprised to see a Romantic cursive that didn't have Roundhand/Copperplate in its ancestry, since that was the standard book engraving script used throughout all of Europe.
