My guess is that you use a search engine to find an image and then create a post to FFL with the embedded image using the same browser that you used to search for the image. That creates a situation where the image is in your browser cache, and when you preview the post, the image loads just fine from cache. But, in cases where the image is on a site that doesn't allow off-site linking, no one else will see the image. The way to get around that is to use a different browser for image searching and posting. E.g., search for the image in Opera, copy the image URL, paste it into your post using Firefox, and when you click to preview, you'll see whether the image will show up or not because the image is in Opera's browser cache, not Firefox's.
