It's just a mistake, plain and simple:
Someone got the idea, to find the geographical center of the US;
And somehow that would be a 'neat' idea, to build something there;
It has no basis in practical reality...
It always comes back to Fairfield anyway...
Which is as close to the middle of the middle as you can get.
