Which he acknowledged was a "terrible error in
judgment."  The former page has subsequently
appeared with him at public events and supported
him totally.

Studds just died suddenly.  He was a terrific
congressman, got all kinds of things accomplished.
He was an activist for environmental and maritime
issues, gay marriage, AIDS funding, and civil
rights, particularly gay rights.

 During

That would be "Democratic."

Actually he faced the Speaker of the House while
the Speaker was reading the charges.  If you face
the Speaker, obviously your back is to your
colleagues.  No insult or contempt was intended
to anyone.  That's yet another smear attempt by
the right.

And it wasn't his colleagues in the House who gave
him the standing ovation, it was his constituents
back home at his first town meeting after the censure.
