http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabbed_browsing "In the area of graphical user interfaces, a tabbed document interface (TDI) is one that allows multiple panes of information to be contained within a single master window, using tabs to navigate between them." Visualize a single web browser open on your desktop, and within that single browser window are multiple tabs. Each tab is a different website, and clicking on a tab displays that site in the browser. > and why haven't I ever heard of it before? I can only speculate, but my guess is that you use Internet Explorer, which does not offer tabbed browsing unless you use a special IE front end application, like Avant Browser or Maxthon.
