Er, there are plenty of poor Sunnis. Being Sunni made it easier to get into Saddam's good
graces than being Kurd or Shiite, but only a fraction of the Sunnis were truely elite.

You sure seem to be contradicting your own statement that poverty wasn't a big problem in Iraq, pre sanctions.
