The coming of the pundits has come to represent several things within the Movement and to meditators in general: 1. The pundits represent the pure enlightened knowledge from India, made directly available to Fairfield and the US. 2. The pundits represent to some the ultimate legitimacy of MUM/MIU. 3. The pundits would complete the 'super-radiance' number and raise the USA to 'invincibility', leading to 4. An enlightened world.
So there is a lot hanging on the pundits showing up...or not. This current course in Fairfield has apparently been wildly successful according to the experiences reported. And that is great. But Maharishi has always told us to seek the highest first; stay focused on the ultimate goal. He has also said that it is easier to be enlightened in a cave than in a city (paraphrase). TM being a technique mainly for householders, needs to fulfill enlightenment for those in the city, vs. the cave. So I look at the current course up 'til now as enlightenment in a cave. In other words, it is safe, secure, ongoing, and in the company of like-minded people. What brings the participants out of the cave? Coming up with a desire greater than themselves; something to stretch and deepen their silence. Hence, just when experiences have been so great and everyone is so blissed out on Oneness, THE PUNDITS ARE COMING! WORLD PEACE IS AT HAND!! Then what happens to everyone's equilibrium? It begins to experience disruption, and stretching, and for some, perhaps many, it breaks, and the emptiness of the 'where are the pundits? no pundits yet' desire creates a stirring, an examination, a cleansing out further of the silence within, trying to find that blissful equilibrium again. Trying to resolve the question, "How can I experience Oneness, and the pundits are not here yet?". Maharishi once again as the global Kshatriya.
