I should add that it's not *necessary* by any means to be aware of the sense of hearing as you're writing. The translation process from nonverbal thought to hearing that thought in language to putting words on paper happens whether you're aware of it or not. The only reason Barry is disagreeing here is because he figured he could turn it into a putdown about what I was describing being similar to "mouth reading," which of course it isn't.
