NBC News just projecting McCaskill. Talent
has conceded.

There'll almost certainly be a recount in
Virginia. The way they do them in Virginia,
we might not know until December.

Quite amazing.

The Senate win, assuming it does occur, is
scarily narrow, however. There's a good
chance Rumsfeld will resign and Bush will
nominate Lieberman for defense secretary,
in which case the Republican governor of
Connecticut will of course appoint a
Republican to Lieberamn's seat. That will
make it even, giving the deciding vote to
Cheney.

The Dems cleaned up on the governorships
too. Keep an eye on Deval Patrick, who
won his race in Massachusetts, only the
second African American governor in U.S.
history. I predict he'll move up from
there.
