I never met the man (Osho), but I knew a few people who did, people who have never given me any reason to doubt their judgment or their credibility. They worked closely with Osho for years. They're more than aware of all the negative shit that went down around him, and do not for a moment deny it. (They split long before the salmonella thang and before Osho died.) But when asked directly whether, a decade or more away from it all, they think Osho was enlight- ened, they say, "Definitely." Me, I don't know. But something comes through in their voices that I recognize. These people are not fooling themselves, or holding onto some lingering moodmaking. Their experience with the man convinces them that he was enlightened.
