When I lived in Back Bay Boston, there were rats in the alleys the size of small dogs. You'd walk by and they'd just glare at you, like they were thinking, "What are you doing in *my* alley?" I never saw any of them hover, so I can't say for sure whether they were Vedic rats or not.
