It isn't even a matter of "facing east," it's a matter
of *facing the sun*.  And of course most of the ancient
standing stones, like Stonehenge, graves, temples, and
other structures all over the globe were oriented to the
sun. Churches traditionally face the sun as well.

Also, not only is Barry grievously ignorant about
building traditions, he doesn't even know what
"geomancy" means.  It doesn't have to do with the
orientation of buildings but rather with divination from
markings on the ground.
