You can rest assured that Syria as well as any other Sunni Arab country will back a Sunni resistance in Iraq if we just up and leave. Naturally Iran will back a Shiite resistance. Several Sunni Muslim nations have already expressed a need for Nuclear technology, i.e. weapons, if Iran continues down that road.
