Sigh. You're hung up on their being a special technique for natural vs artificial harmonics. In fact, I've seen (and used) all sorts of techniques to play harmonics. An interesting effect is to hammer on on an open string, then pull off, then dampen at the harmonic point, using whichever hand is more, well, handy.
