Legitimacy can be seen as coming in two kinds: external and internal

Entities looking for legitimacy of the internal kind, do so because
they feel a need for peer-aproval in order to feel good about themselves.

By accusing entities looking for legitimacy we may really be accusing
them for not being good enough for the rest of us.

Looking for external legitimacy simply means acknowledging the
fundamental lawlessness of human affairs (caused by the freedom of
action bestowed on mankind by it's Creator), i.e. that Might is Right.

In this scenario searching for legitimacy simply means fighting for a
safe place in a social hierarchy. This could be done by entities
enjoying abundance of self-confidence, or by entities that do not.

It is here suggested that any action undertaken by MMY is only about
the second type of legitimacy, and then only for the benefit of the
universe.
