The Sunni governments are terrified of Iran having nuclear weapons technology and will demand their own if Iran gets them. Part of the US interests in the Area are to keep Nuclear weapons technology out of the hands of as many countries as possible, which is fine with the Sunnis as long as the Shiites don't have them either.
