They sure wouldn't get hired in the first place if that was true. You're talking about remembering exactly what you said, to whom and when, regarding casual conversation, i.e. gossip, about people in a news paper article, that took place anywhere from a year to two years earlier. I'm sorry but unless I had a tape recording or transcript of I what I had said, I would have to be guessing under the same circumstances. Unfortunately when being interviewed by the FBI in an investigation, even to say "To the best of my recollection " doesn't get you off the hook if you are wrong.
