I don't doubt it. I've noticed the effects of physical postures. Ever notice how the hard- core flyers and Purushites are those who can sit in a lotus position? They can get the most from their practice. I used to be able to force myself into one for half a minute, and the shakti up the spine was terrific. But I tore knee cartilage flying that way, and let it go. I've noticed the mudra effects, too, but it felt too pretentious to keep up. It took effort, too, a clear violation of the teaching.
