I agree with Doug here. I've always thought it odd that although this group
is
called Fairfield Life, many of the most frequent contributors don't live
here and
have no connection to Fairfield and are also, in many cases, hostile to TM
and
the TMO. What are they doing here? Most of the local contributors stopped
posting a long time ago; it would be nice to get some of them back so this
could become once again a genuine community board with some relevance
to our life here in Fairfield.

I came up with the name after just a moment’s consideration, and I came up
with the idea to start the group because the Fairfield Weekly Reader, a
local paper, couldn’t couldn’t continue publishing reader feedback on some
controversial local issue. But as the photo on
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ depicts, FF plays a role in the
world larger than that of most small towns. “Local-only” forums have been
started, such as Sharalyn Harris’s Fairfield Community Kiosk, but they
haven’t really taken off. Most of FFL’s contributors do have a connection to
FF because they have a TM background. Regarding some members’ hostility to
TM and the TMO, you’ll find that in FF too, so that’s actually a local
issue. Anyway, I can’t change the name now. Anyone is welcome to start
another chat exclusive to FF, but FFL has found a purpose and has been a
pretty successful group for 5 ½ years.
