One of my faves, not the least reason being that it was filmed in Santa Fe while I lived there. I actually stumbled onto the set one day as they were shooting, naturally never having heard of a film with the name on the clapboards, "The Tao of Steve." I was the fly to its spider; I hung around for hours, watching the movie-making process, enjoying the rare behind-the- scenes glimpse into my favorite artform. After a while, I wandered over to the stoop of the back door of the restaurant around which they were shooting, and stood there just taking in the whole scene. A young woman wandered over and sat down on the stoop next to me. I was in love. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I stammered out something senseless and, rather than blowing me off as the obvious asshole I was, she smiled and talked with me for a while. It was Einstein's eternity as a few moments talking to a beautiful woman, as opposed to his sitting-on-a-hot-stove eternity. It was to die for. And then they called for her, and she smiled and said goodbye to me, and went over to play Steve's love interest. I also knew the author of the screenplay. He was one of my cafe buddies in Santa Fe. Gotta go...dinner guests arriving...
