A few weeks ago, I remember;
  Brian Williams asked Don Imus, on the air, live;
  To come to Iraq, where he was at the time;
  How good it would be for the troops:
  'They love you over here', Brian said.
  Imus said, he'd think it over, but you could tell;
  He was put off that Brian had asked him on the air, live, to do this.
  But, now looking back, at how destiny plays out:
  It would have been less dangerous for Imus to go to Iraq,
  Since he had done all of this work for the wounded soldiers;
  Black and White, Red and Yellow.
  But he didn't take the invitation to visit Baghdad;
  And feeling like he needed to spice the show up, that fateful day;
  Since the Walter Reed scandal had settled down...
  And even perhaps he felt like a wimp, having turned the Baghdad offer;
  And in a boring segment of air time- decided to spice things up a little,
  He made that infamous remark,
  And a week later, he gets blown up, so to speak.
  Funny, the fickle finger of fate!
