Hey Card, I owe you big thanks man. Since you sent me the link with Sonny Boy Williamson playing Bye Bye Bird and shoving the harp in his mouth like a cigar, I've been working on it. I got it! Last night I played the song for the first time at a club gig and it tore the place apart! Since Sonny Boy was missing a lot of teeth I had to figure out how to play harp inside my mouth without cracking mine. I figured out that with a little sponge tape on the harp plates I can grip it just like Sonny Boy and move it around to get notes. I had the whole place snapping their fingers at the end of my first set and even walked off the stage like the man himself playing the song with both hands free. It was a peak moment, the audience actually gasped. I will include this bit in all my shows from now on. I video all my shows but the tape ran out so I missed it. But I'll catch it on another gig and post it sometime.
Sonny Boy playing this way was just a legend for me until you sent me the video link and I started thinking about how I could pull it off. I may never be as cool as Sonny Boy, but it felt great to try to fit into his big old size 14 shoes! Thanks! For those who want to see the man himself here is the link again: http://youtube.com/watch?v=e2jOaYkPvug --- In [email protected], cardemaister <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > --- In [email protected], "Richard J.
