  Thanks for the rec, Pete.  I saw it this evening.  Agreed- it is good, yet 
graphically violent 
well beyond my usual taste. 
       Mind if I mention a concern?   I am disturbed with cinematic display of 
murder of 
innocent persons  as a means for the murderer to acieve a 'rush' of 
intoxicating 
experience.  I had similar concern when I viewed Pulp Fiction.  It's creepy to 
observe such a 
callous disregard for innocent persons by murderers who seek to satisfy a 
self-indulgent  
craving for intense experience.  
       How addicted was Mr. Brooks to murder!! And Mr. Smith was well on his 
way to a 
similar ensnarement.  Mr. Brooks was unable to completely retire from his 
addiction, 
despite applying his considerable personal resources to eradicate the addiction 
from his 
psyche.
How sad.....  and how troubling it was to see Mr. Smith willingly drawn into 
the addiction.
       With such cinematic portrayal of murder and its necessarily dismissive 
treatment of 
innocent persons,  human life is now relatively much less valued than a few 
decades ago.  
Additionally, when one considers Global Climate Change concerns about the 
impact of a 
person's  carbon footprint imposition upon the well-being of the planet, we 
might 
continue to see more popular culture displays of disregard for individual life. 
It's 
regretable, in my mind.
