I think your anticipation of the facts have merit and continuity, and while
some of it remains constant, no matter how he died, I have it on very strong
source that he never was crucified, that he married, apparently Mary
Magalene, had kids and lived in Kashmir.  If anyone was thought to have died
as Jesus on a cross, it was either a dummy or a real person, one among many
who may have had their life ruined by such practice so common by the Romans
in quelling dissent.
