Hoodoo

Spell number one

is the gingerbread brown

splashing around in your eyes

Your San Diego smile

slicing open like an orange

Your eyelashes curling

into question marks

Spell number two is your voice

spilling down my spine

like a runaway tongue

The feather of your breath

brushing my neck

Your fingertips skating

across the skin of my chest

Spell number three is your name

how it slips between my lips

like a nipple

Softening into syllables

that collect in the corners

of my puckered mouth.
