Please do not host with WHN (http://www.www-hosting.net) for the reasons below.
In addition to the original email I'd sent to a few people this morning, I'd like to include an email from WHN in response to my account cancellation, my response, and his final response which I will not be answering, but will add to the complaint file I've lodged with the BBB. Please share this with anyone and everyone who might be looking at acquiring a website, transferring a website, or knows someone who is. Col. Kat "Squeak" Ma'at of the Minnie Mouse House Squad http://stuffyguard.org/mousehouse/index.html I take back any recommendation I've ever made for WHN webhosting (http://www.www-hosting.net). As many of you know (and some of you don't) I had an account with them for almost a year and a half, the last bit of which has been on a dedicated server. Due to cost restraints I was unable to continue on the server and returned my site to a standard account. I also recommended that all of my "customers" use them as their webhost because the service had been great. That has changed. Last night, Gary Petola, owner of WHN, attempted to steal my domain name. The current WHOIS database reads: Registrant: ma-at.net (MA-AT2-DOM) 9807 NE 130th Place #106 Kirkland, WA 98034 US Domain Name: MA-AT.NET Administrative Contact, Technical Contact: Hostmaster, WHN (PG3395) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Hosting Network 2910 Brookridge Circle Anchorage, AK 99504 US 907-929-7642 209-320-3502 209-320-3502 Record expires on 04-Feb-2003. Record created on 04-Feb-2000. Database last updated on 24-Jun-2002 11:51:07 EDT. Domain servers in listed order: NS.MA-AT.NET 64.71.171.11 NS2.MA-AT.NET 64.71.171.12 The only thing correct on their is the Registrant's address... Me. Until last night I was the administrative and billing contacts for my domain name. Fortunately I found out soon enough and Verisign will be able to take corrective action. I've found a new host and as soon as the transfer back to me is complete my sites will be back online. But the bottom line is... Please don't trust your Domain Name in the hands of a backbiter like Web Hosting Network. Please forward this to any person or mailing you feel needs to hear it.
