Thank you to everyone for the input, It makes a lot more sense now and Im making headway! Im impressed with the level of support on this group.
@Jeff The reason for wanting to achieve this programatically is to allow content contributors to add 'sections' and the site will automatically use the correct colour style sheets. using the dmCSS method would require the contributor to add css objects to the tree and as we have a fixed pattern of colour styles for the site (5 styles used in order for the root sections and cycled back to style one when you reach the sixth section etc...), it seems sensible to assign the css colour styles automatically. Furthermore, I need to get my hands dirty so I become familliar with the farcry framework and this was a good place to start! Thanks for the suggestion though. @Blair Thanks for pointing that out, Im no longer messing with application.navid.home, Im now creating a new entry in application.navid. @Tim Yeah, it is a subtle yet mission crtical(!) difference between request.navid and stobj.objectID. I've got my head around that one now! It makes sense when I think about it retrospectively but like you say, its not clear when you start out. Once again, thanks for your help!
