Thanks for your reply. I had been thinking about whether you could exclude certain files as you say, but I think we might run into problems whereby all 404's would then go through the friendlyURLs script. That shouldn't be too much of a problem if you are starting with a new site from scratch, but if you are migrating from a large existing site, you are going to really hammer the server. I'll have to give it some more thought. I wonder whether we could include a rule that would deal with the 404s by excluding anything that has the .htm/html extension....?
