Found the problem, I did a dump of the qChildren variable in treeGetRelations.cfm, to see what was expected as navigation nodes under the home directory, one was listed here but not in the dmNavigation table, added it then updateapp and all ok

You might take a look at:

Its category specific, but will give you some insight into the
relationship between tree model and content type.
